Craving for the taste of sushi but don't want to go out and spend money? Have some dry seaweed in the cupboard, and a couple of avocados at home? Well, here's a quick recipe to satisfy your craving in less than half an hour or less! If you already have some left-over rice, then this can be done in almost five minutes. Here's what you need:
rice (preferably brown rice)
half or one whole avocado
toasted sesame seeds
dried seaweed (wakame)
You can add a bit of sesame oil or mirin if you like, but I think the seaweed, avocado and sesame seeds are powerhouses of flavour -- anything extra just ruins the taste for me :( But hey, whatever floats your boat right?
1. soak the dried wakame in water for about five minutes
2. while waiting for the wakame to re-hydrate, open up the avocado and scoop into one corner of your dinner plate
3. add rice to another corner of your plate
4. sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the rice
5. drain the wakame and add to another corner of your plate
6. mix, mash and eat!
Well, there you go...when I make this again, I'll definitely take pictures and add it to this post. Happy eating!
