What an awesome artist! Jason Mraz came last Sunday to Toronto and he really is a great singer. He can really sing live and the concert was unbelievably cool. I don't really go to concerts much but this was worth every penny.
My personal cheese:
1) The crowd was...very rude, I found. I came to the concert to listen to music, but there were a lot of people who just came to socialize. Shut up! Geez...I don't care what you did during the weekend with your boyfriend -- I want to listen to awesome music gosh drabbit!
2) No offense to Jason Mraz because his music is wonderful, but I thought the repertoire could have been a little more varied, since for the most part, the concert was lively, lively, and...lively. It would have been good if there was more of a journey of emotions, whereas on Sunday, it was a journey of many many highs. Not that the music was bad, mind you. Just that I don't think I could stand that much liveliness for more than an hour...errr...
3) I didn't get to hear "You and I Both" because my brother dragged me out of the concert to beat the crowd to the highway. Boo! I had to Youtube it and boy does it stink that I missed it.
4) Truly regret that this wasn't a smaller crowd. It would have been great if this concert was a small, intimate, coffee house kind of thing.
The good:
1) Many kudos to Jason and his ability to still the crowd with his mighty mighty voice. When he came on, everyone was captured by it.
2) While the groups before him weren't bad (they had Bushwalla and ummm..some other band whose name I can't remember @~@) I was getting really sleepy, especially because it was a Sunday night, but once Jason Mraz came on, it was like his voice woke me up and gave me more energy.
3) Yay for "1000 Things" and "I'm Yours". The night's rendition of "The Remedy" was also very refreshing. I enjoyed the songs most when it was just him and Toca singing, sans other players, though the introduction of the brass players and the jazzy flavour of a lot of the songs were a nice surprise.
4) Jason and Toca have voices that were made for each other -- the peanut butter and jelly of the musical world! And I finally got to see Gnomie up close and personal :P
Truly a wonderful experience but for the crowd and I guess, the...errr...monotony? Don't kill me....
